Chandler, November 27th, 2012 – From November 6th to 8th, GIMXPORT accompanied the Gaspe Lobster delegation, from the lobster fishing industry of the Gaspesie, at the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo held in Dalian, in the Liaoning province, North of China.
The 17th edition of the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo was memorable in part because it was Quebec’s first active participation at the Canadian Pavilion.
This first experience as an exhibitor in China was successful. On the one hand, the Gaspe Peninsula attracted the attention of buyers by presenting its delectable lobster and other seafood products. On the other hand, the booth proudly displayed the new Gaspe Lobster brand image, created by the firm Gemini 3D. Also, the promotional website dedicated to the “king of Canadian crustaceans” was translated into Mandarin. We invite you to visit: www.gaspelobster.com
GIMXPORT took part in the fair as an exhibitor and, through the promotion of its excellent range of products from the Gaspesie, a clear signal was launched to buyers in Asia: There is also the possibility of sourcing quality seafood from Quebec, which is part of Atlantic Canada.
In Dalian, the industry representatives met with many new potential Chinese buyers, as well as with existing customers. Also, relationships with key players from the Canadian Pavilion were built. Moreover, GIMXPORT was invited to a federal-provincial meeting on the Chinese seafood market, followed by a cocktail where companies discussed business opportunities with trade commissioners from the embassy and consulates. In addition, the Bureau du Québec enabled the Gaspe Lobster delegation to meet with one of the largest private enterprises in China.
The mission in Dalian and its entire process were made possible thanks to the financial support and excellent collaboration of Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), the Quebec Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy (MAMROT) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ).
